Teacher's Pet: Meet Krevy the Krebensis |
The idea is if you would like to show off you adorable pet then email us a picture* with a brief profile. As this is the first newsletter I thought I better start the ball rolling. I live in a flat and work full time so we decided to have pet fish. |
So please meet Krevy the Krebensis! This breed of fish (AKA cichlid) orginally came from the Niger River basin in Nigeria. Kreby has fathered many offspring, he currently has about 20 babies which his female partner and him look after. Kreby can change colour in an instant, especially when you feed him something he likes. He often has a cherry coloured belly. The way they swim is also quite fascinating. |
They are fast swimmers and can stop in a snap, swim backwards and even sideways. When they fight (or face off) they will sometimes angle they bodies downwards, flare there fins to look bigger, and drift towards there opponent. Although they are small, they can be quite aggressive, so we have to choose their tank mates with care. Kribensis have an approximate lifespan of 5 years. Quick Profile: Name: Kreby the Krebensis Gender: Male Marital Status: Married Age: 4 Favourite Food: Blood worms Hobby: Chasing other fish Offspring: 20 babies and 2 teenagers * please make sure emailed images are smaller than 1mb |
